“I’ll be happy once I sell my business for millions” – No, you won’t

“I’ll be happy once I sell my business for millions!”

STOP. RIGHT. THERE.

That kind of thinking is a recipe for misery. Here’s why:

  1. The big cash-out is RAREMost businesses don’t end with a massive payday. Shocking, I know.

  2. You’re playing the lottery, not building a lifeWhat if that payday never comes? 5 years wasted?

  3. There’s a smarter way:a) Envision your ideal life in 20 yearsb) Build a business that supports THAT vision

Three paths to consider:

  1. The Cash Flow King

  • Steady income

  • More control

  • Work-life balance

  • Example: Service business, 20hrs/week, location independent

  1. The Serial Builder

  • Love the 0-to-1 phase

  • Hands-off after initial setup

  • Advisory role

  • Example: Build, systemize, step back, repeat

  1. Swing for the Fence

  • Raise a lot of money

  • Great for workaholics

  • Will probably fail

Ask yourself:“If I had to live the same workday over and over, what would make me truly happy?”

Your business should be a vehicle for your ideal life, not the other way around.

A miserable multi-millionaire is still miserable.

Choose wisely.
